Before you ever leave their building, they have a little training session with you one-on-one to make sure you've mastered the basics. Stan volunteered to go first, and he did really well! After just about everyone had gone, it was my turn, and I was terrified!
This face about sums it up.
The guy training me mentioned he could hear terror in my voice. Yep, that would be accurate! I don't know what I was so afraid of, but I got on there and did it anyway.
I managed to complete all the turns, going forward and reverse, etc. After our little training session was over, it was time to start the tour! As we're leaving, a lady in our group told me to be careful because her friend just had major arm surgery due to an accident she had while on a segway. REALLY, LADY?!?
And we're off!
In all, the tour was 2.5 hours long and took us through about 8 miles of downtown Austin. We stopped along the way to hear fun facts about the city. Thankfully they actually were really interesting and funny facts! It wasn't some boring, historical tour.
As time went on, I became more and more comfortable on the segway. Stan and I both got pretty good at it, and I only bumped his tire once! :)
I'm so glad Stan was thoughtful enough to book this adventure for us. It was a ton of fun to experience something new together, and we both walked away with no bruises or broken bones. I call it a win! :)
