The Metroplex 5k was held on Sunday, March 16. To set the stage, my friend had a welcome back party on March 15, and I didn't get home until after 1 am. I also ate sooooo much food. So, so much food. I pretty much felt like I was going to explode once I woke up, not to mention the fact that I was super sleepy.
This race confirmed that I am not Wonder Woman.
My last 5k was where I set my new PR, and it was on February 22nd. I ran a 28:49, so one would think that less than a month later I'd be able to run at least around a 29 or 30.
I ran a 31:08 this race.
No sleep and terrible-for-you food will do that to you, I suppose. The awful wind didn't help, but the real culprit was my own bad choices. Oh well. I'm not going to stress over one bad race. I had a great time with friends, and sometimes that's worth a not-so-good race time.
Mega points to the boyfriend for getting up the next morning to take these pictures, because while I didn't drink, he surely did…
